Do you want to help the environment but find that it’s too much trouble to recycle? With these easy tips, you’ll find that recycling takes a minimal amount of time to save our resources.

1.	Keep a recycling bin handy and make it easy to recycle. It takes only seconds to toss an empty bottle, plastic container or can into a bin. Keep it in a nearby closet or in the garage.

Car Donate Charity

2.	Recycle paper. Use paper grocery bags or cardboard boxes to hold the paper. When going through the mail toss unwanted junk mail into the recycling box. Reuse blank sides of paper for notes, or grocery lists.

3.	Reuse plastic grocery bags. Many grocery stores now offer an incentive to customers who bring in their own bags, offering cents off per bag. Keep the bags in the car for easy access.

4.	Old bed sheets or blankets make great drop cloths for painting, arts and crafts or household repairs.

5.	Spread coffee grounds and fireplace ashes in the garden to add extra nutrients to the soil.

6.	Grind lemon rinds in the garbage disposal to keep it smelling fresh.

7.	Plastic fruit cups can be used for small jobs around the house such as painting, cleaning or polishing.

8.	Don’t throw away clothing or household items that are in good condition. Donate them to charity. Many charities will pick up your items.

9.	Use plastic containers from margarine and whipped topping for leftovers.

10.	Worn cotton items such as towels, washcloths or socks make perfect cleaning, dusting or polishing rags.

What, drive around in an ex-police car? If the thought isn’t quite comfortable with you, you might want to reconsider. Used police cars are actually a great choice if you want to buy cheap. If you choose well, you could get one that’s well-maintained with a repair record or logbook which is probably more complete and accurate than anything you yourself have for your old reliable. Better yet, used police cars can be bought at a fraction of their value.

What to look for:

Car Donate Charity

Check where the car was originally from. Most city police cars have had a tough run, while some police cars from the country may have less wear and tear. This is not a general rule, but it may be helpful.

Check for equipment that have been added or removed. It’s a used police car, so expect stuff like sirens, lights, cages, gun mounts, antennas, spot lights and the like. The unit could have holes in the trunk and roof because of these. Some used police cars also have rear side windows and rear door locks that don’t work – not a bad thing, but some family members or friends might find it annoying.

Speaking of sirens and lights, don’t be too ecstatic about getting them on your car. Some states prohibit possession of police sirens and lights, so it’s best to check with your municipality about laws and regulations concerning them. Also, removing these equipment will mean some wiring concerns and yes, holes on your unit.

Used police cars usually have rubber floors. Great if you find one with carpeting so you get more buffer from noise and heat. Check also if the car was used as a K9 unit. Yep, you have to know this. Sometimes no amount of Glade can do away with the nasty dog smell and it’s just not cool driving a nice car that smells like a dog house.

Another concern would be the color of the car. Most used police cars in the auction lot are black or white or a combination of both. And then there are the blues, silvers, grays and tans, or some other color, depending on which government agency used it. If you bought one with some damage on the body, you might have a difficulty matching the color, even if you get the paint custom mixed. Also, black and white combination cars are illegal in some states.

Try to check for the average mileage in the used police car lot. If you find one with a really low mileage, you might think you’ve hit the jackpot, but be wary. No matter how rich you think your state is, a police agency just does not put up its used cars for auction for no reason. One risk of a low-mileage used police car is that it could have been involved in an accident, so it’s best to check its background.

Just for your own security, subscribe to CarFax so you can check the history of the cars you are interested in, especially mileage noted during state inspections and any accidents they may have been involved in. However, not all used police cars involved in accidents are reported to an insurance company, which means you may not find an accident report with CarFax.

The best thing to do is check the title to see if it’s been salvaged and how many times the car has changed hands. Ask a knowledgeable friend or a mechanic to help you in your decision before you conclude the deal. Ask for a copy of a repair report and records so you can see the exact damage the car sustained, when it was repaired, the name of the shop who did the repairs and the list of parts that have been replaced.

No matter what car dealers tell you, there is no such thing as a premium or deluxe used police car package. Whether they’ve been driven by regular policemen or top brass officers, it’s really up to you to decide on your own if that used police car is a good buy.

Looking for a Cheap, Good-Condition Car? Try a Used Police Vehicle

Traditionally the newly wedded couple received wedding gifts with the idea to help them out in setting up a household, but in these times with the people marrying rather late in life and most of them well settled in their households in variety of settings are not in desperate need of another blender or toaster.

Like everything else the gift giving style has changed for weddings. First it was the wedding registries where the couple registered for the items that they thought they needed to start in married life which was considered pretty tacky in some circles but people got over it and now it has become almost a norm. In fact, whoever does not register with some sort of wedding service is considered strange. The wedding registries like everything else evolved from modest to outrageous depending on ones social status and financial position.

Car Donate Charity

Then came the celebrity and rich or ultra rich “charity donation” concept, since these people could afford most things in life and then some more, they did not need to set up a humdrum household.

Finally now is the time of “money” wedding gifts, although it has been around for centuries for instance bride or grooms parents or rich relatives helping out with money gifts on the wedding day. In many countries it is a tradition to give “money” to the groom and bride on their wedding, for example in South East Asian cultures.

What is considered “Tacky” is the actual statement that the couple would like to have a monetary gift. There are many ways to get creatively around this sticky subject. The bride and grooms friends can drop a hint something like ” you know they are saving for a down payment on a car or a house etc”.

There are many places that the guests can register for monetary wedding gifts rather than the traditional gifts. There are certain banks that have wedding registries for the couple where a money gift can be made towards a down payment on a house.

It is only a matter of time when the “money” gifts will not be a controversial subject and will be widely accepted in western culture.

Go ahead and don’t be afraid to find a creative way to ask for a money gift on your wedding.

After comparing the prices of the compatible tires with the amount of money in your tire budget, then a choice can be made. But is it the right choice? I mean, if you have no idea what the label on your tire means or what you are purchasing, you could really be leaving out a whole new world of tire options.

Okay, a typical car tire label reads something like this “P185/60R 14 82H.” In this little car label “sentence” there is a wealth of information. But it doesn’t do you any good if you haven’t the slightest idea of what it all means. So, if you’re like me, this guide to car tire language can come in quite handy on your next trip to the automotive department.

Car Donate Charity

The first letter on the tire label indicates what type of vehicle the tire is intended for: P is for passenger car, LT is for light truck, and T is for your temporary or spare tire.

The numbers immediately following, “185″ in this label, is the section width of the tire in millimeters. Shorter or narrower tires have lower numbers.

The numbers immediately following the slash indicate the tire’s aspect ratio, which is translated as the section height as percentage of the section width. In lay’s terms, this tire’s height is 60 percent of its width. Performance tires would have a lower number in this space.

The next letter stands for the tire’s type. In this case, “R” stands for radial. The 14 immediately following is the wheel rim diameter in inches.

The next number in the label, “82,” stand for the tire’s load index. According to the Maximum Load-Carrying Capacity chart, a set of four of these tires could safely support a vehicle weighing 4,188 pounds.

The final letter stands for the amount of traveling speeds that the tire is capable of sustaining safely under optimal driving conditions. “The speed ratings are S for up to 112 mph, H for up to 130 mph, V for up to 150 mph, Z for 150 mph+.At high speeds, the tire can get very hot and the tread can separate from the belts. The speed ratings tell you how fast you can go and still be safe.

When selecting tires for your car or motorcycle you should also pay attention to some other tire qualities which may effect your car or motorcycles performance or the durability of your tires. While the most important considerations for you to consider when purchasing new tires will be the tread type, size and mileage warranty, do not hesitate to ask questions if your dealer uses a term that you are unfamiliar with.

After all, it’s your money and you want the safest most durable tires for your dollar. Most of the tire size and speed ratings are the same for car and motorcyle tires but always refer to your owners manual.

For many truck drivers this time of year can really place an undue burden on your financial well being. But it doesn’t have to be that way. You can fight back. You can save money, but first you have to learn about the various tax deductions for truck drivers, and then you have to apply them.

Saving With Your Unique Opportunities

Car Donate Charity

Before I share with you some of the great tax deductions that will save you 0′s of dollars on your yearly taxes, I want to share with you the mind-set of saving with your unique opportunities, and how it can mean the difference between financial freedom or financial bondage.

I want to teach you this mind-set through the use of an example. Then I want you to pour over it with your mind, picking it apart and seeing how you can personally apply it in your life, and within your unique situations. Many truck drivers spend a lot of money on the various meals that they eat when their on the road. So, with that in mind, let us now see if we can save money with this unique situation. Let’s say you’re spending an average of dollars (although it could be much higher than that) for the basic 3 meals throughout the day that’s dollars a day. Now, what if you do that 5 days a week for two months. That’s 0 smackers every two months, or ,600 dollars every year, that’s a lot of money! So, you’re probably wondering, how do I save some of that money? Well, the answer is simple; learn to pay attention to your unique saving opportunities and then act.

Instead of buying those dollar meals whenever you go on the road, start making your own. And you will be surprised at the amount of money you can save. I would even suggest that you cut-out some grocery store coupons from your local newspaper and save even more on the lunch meat, vegetables, fruit, bread, eggs and other things you buy to make your “travel meals” with. And if you really want to have a prosperous financial future, you will save or better yet, use the money that you have saved by making your own meals and apply it to your unique investment opportunities. But remember, be wise and do your research before you invest.

Tax Deductions

Truck Expenses – This is one of the most powerful tax deductions that you can use as a truck driver. For example, did you know that you can get a tax deduction for every time that you have to get engine work done on your truck. You can even get tax breaks for things like new antennas, new lights, CB’s and CB repairs, scanners, tires, or even repairs on your AC or heater.

Equipment Expenses – Here’s another great opportunity to save with your taxes. We’ve discussed how you can get tax deductions for your tuck, but did you know that you can even get them for things like hand tools, log books, pencils, calculators, flashlights, coveralls, tarps, tool boxes, gloves, maps… this list could go on forever! But you get the idea.

I hope that you liked the principles, ideas, and tips that I’ve shared with you today. Now remember, nothing will happen if you don’t apply the things you’ve learned. Applied knowledge is true power, and you can use it to save money!

Holding a silent or live auction at your fundraising event can help to bring in lots of additional funds. The guests at your event already support your organization, and chances are they would be happy to bid on items to help you raise much-needed funds.

Offering unique auction items, things that people cannot typically find in a store, will help create interest in the auction. People will be more eager to bid because they will realize this is literally a once-in-a-lifetime experience for them. So it is a win-win situation for them, they get something they are very excited about having, and they also help to support an organization they really care about.

Car Donate Charity

You probably have connections to obtaining unique items that you may not have thought about before. Consider your board members and volunteers: what interesting jobs and connections might they have? A great unique auction item could be lunch with an important business leader in your community. Another great idea could be an afternoon spent in someone’s office – perfect for that high school or college student considering a career.

A similar experience would be to be named a “Policeman for a Day” or “Fireman for a Day.” This could be a fun day designed for a child, a whole classroom or a family. You would need to contact the local police or fire department to see if they would give a tour to the winner and perhaps let them have a ride in a car or on the fire truck and maybe put on a hat. (Imagine the look on a seven-year old boy’s face having that adventure and you can see this would be a great auction prize!).

Other ideas could include having your name or message put up at the local movie theater for a day or a week, getting your own day declared by the Mayor and walking in your town’s Fourth of July parade.

To come up with unique “experiences” it can be helpful to begin by thinking of who you know and have a connection to first. Then ask this person if they would like to help your organization by making a donation to the silent auction with an “experience”. Let the person come up with an alternative idea if they have one, remember sometimes people get excited about participating and they will come up with an even better idea.

Make sure to put any “rules” the person gives you about winning the prize (i.e. – must be completed within three months, can only be done Monday through Wednesday, etc.). This person you have connected with may even have other people or organizations that they know that would be happy to help your organization.

Another idea is to suggest a theme when soliciting donations, such as Family Fun, Sweets or Travel and to obtain items that focus on your theme. When you give some suggestions and ideas for auction items it often helps stir up ideas in someone’s mind. They may come up with a creative auction item that even you or your committee wouldn’t have thought of!

Auctions are a terrific way to help your organization raise additional funds. With some creative thinking you are certain to find some wonderful auction items.

People enjoy getting a chance to win something, so here are a some easy fundraiser raffle ideas to boost your fundraising efforts. Your raffle can be an inexpensive ticket for a prize drawing or a 0 ticket for a big prize such as a big screen television or a new car.

The basics of a raffle fundraiser are quite simple. Your costs are limited to the ticket expense and purchasing the prizes. Often times, local merchants will donate items or offer special discounts to nonprofits or school groups.

Car Donate Charity

As with any fundraiser, the better the items offered, the more funds you raise. Your fundraising raffle can be of short duration or have tickets for sale for a month or more.

It all depends on how much you are trying to raise and what type of raffle you conduct.

Get Publicity

Publicity is the key element of a fundraiser raffle, particularly when offering an expensive grand prize. Issue a press release and make sure it reaches the appropriate persons at local media outlets such as newspapers, radio stations and local television.

Also get the word out through your newsletter and website as far in advance as possible. Aim to build excitement and anticipation with your supporters for the prizes to be offered.

Assign various aspects of ticket sales to as broad of a base as possible. By avoiding having one or two people try to handle everything, you’ll reach a much larger number of prospects.

Door Prizes

Everybody loves winning a door prize at an event, so keep that in mind when deciding how many prizes to give away.

Be sure to sell raffle tickets at the door as that is the prime time for an impulse buy.

Keep your prize expense to roughly one-third of your projected revenue.

Automobile Drawing

A new car raffle is always a huge draw because it appeals to almost every adult. Because of the prize expense, you’ll need to decide the best balance between ticket prices and total revenue.

I’ve seen car raffles priced anywhere from to 0 with proportionately more tickets needing to be sold when prices are lower. In this example, five times as many tickets need to be sold.

Multiple Prizes

Having multiple prizes increase the chances of winning, but more importantly, it also increases the chance that people will buy a ticket or even multiple tickets.

The psychology behind providing multiple prizes is proven to increase participation because people are more likely to consider the odds more in their favor. There is also a belief that having various prizes also increases the chance of having one that appeals strongly to almost anyone.

Among the most popular prizes are big screen TVs, CD players, iPods, gift certificates, spa visits, and weekend getaways.

50/50 Raffle

Here you are doing a door prize raffle, but the prize is half the ticket sales. It certainly simplifies things and most people like the idea of winning cash.

A 50/50 raffle works great at sporting events such as football or basketball games, but it can also be used at any type of event.

Cash Calendar Raffle

This raffle idea combines a calendar sale with a chance at winning a prize. Each calendar purchase includes a raffle ticket for a prize drawing for a certain amount of cash.

Some groups do just one prize drawing from the raffle tickets. Others offer a continuing series of cash drawings, usually on a weekly basis.

Prices for cash calendar fundraisers are often in the – range, depending on the cash prize drawing. A weekly prize of or 0 is common, with larger prizes of 0 or ,000 being offered at some stages of these fundraisers.

Raffle Ideas Wrap-up

A fundraiser raffle is a great way to raise funds, either as a standalone fundraiser or in conjunction with an fundraising event. For instance, you can add a raffle to a school carnival, a black tie charity event, or even a car wash.

The most important thing is to offer attractive prizes with widespread appeal and price your tickets to maximize total revenue. It doesn’t do any good to overprice the tickets because total ticket sales will suffer. Choose the right price point to stimulate impulse buys.

Most people will make an emotion-based decision to participate and then justify it with logic, so make sure your raffle prizes seem really attractive in comparison to the ticket cost.

So, you’ve decided to take the big leap and move. Whether it is to downsize or expand your space, if you feel kind of anxious and a bit overwhelmed, you are not alone.

Moving homes is right up there on the stress list of life’s events along with marriage, having a child, a new job, a family passing, and a divorce. Maybe there is a way that we can look at a move as an adventure, a new chapter in your life. Think of it this way, while the time needed to prepare for a move may seem overwhelming, it is really only for a defined period of time. And yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Car Donate Charity

Don’t be surprised if you feel sad or a sense of bittersweet as a move can trigger the movie of your life flashing before your eyes. Why? Because your home may represent one or more of the following:

Your first big investment

Your first home as a married couple

Where you raised your children

Your choice of home after the children moved out

This list can be part of the emotion that ties you to hanging onto your stuff. Because of sentimental attachment, and sometimes, the fear of the unknown.

I’ll list some practical tips for move preparation later, but for now let’s focus on saying goodbye to some of your stuff, making room for what you do want in your new home.

Decluttering

The move is an opportunity for you to choose to bring only what you really use and love. It is also the one of the best times to declutter on a grand scale.

Bedding: Is it time to replace the mattresses and pillows? This is the perfect time to make a bedding purchase and have the old bed picked up and the new bed delivered to your new address.

Carpeting & Dry Cleaning: Having your articles picked up or dropped off for cleaning, then retrieved when in the new home will save you the trouble of moving them.

Kitchenware: Still having dinner for twelve? Consider donating your china dinner set to a silent auction or holiday season sale; raise money for one of your local charities or hospitals.

Books: Some booksellers still make a courtesy calls at homes to peruse books and make offers of purchase. Also, some local sales and charities will accept books.

Toys and videos: Some children may be best prepared to decide with their parents on what to give away once they are settled into a new routine and their new room.

Cleaned and serviceable toys and videos are welcome at various day cares and hospitals. Call to verify their policies on receiving used toys.

Antiques and household items: Consider inviting buyers to your home to make offers or perhaps have an estate sale after a move. If you move before the house is sold, items you are not moving can be held back and used for Home Staging purposes.

Planning Tips

Bills: Pay all outstanding bills and indicate your new address and move date on the payment receipts.

Banking: Advise banks, credit cards companies, and financial institutions and your financial advisor of the new address. Order cheques with new address if needed.

Post office: Use the change of address system for a minimum of three months. Save incoming mail with change of address stickers on the envelopes. Use these as your reminders of who to call or write to advise of your change of address.

Essential Items

Pack a box of essential items that you will need immediately at the new home, and bring it with you by car on the day of the move. Recommended items include:

Cell phones and cell chargers.

Address books.

Bank cards, cheque books, and sets of house keys to both homes.

Cleaning supplies including vacuum cleaner, paper towels, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, dish soap, dish cloth and dish towel.

Groceries, bottled water, some prepared meals if possible.

Bed linen, bath and hygiene products, toothbrushes and other toiletries, hangers, and enough clothing and shoes for three days.

Tools (hammer, screwdriver, nails & screws, scotch tape, tape measure, box cutter, scissors, pens and paper).

Some cutlery, glasses, mugs, plates, and bowls, napkins and placemats.

Important Documents and Files

Pack important and sentimental documents separately for easy access such as: children’s health records, passports, birth certificates, family records, insurance information, CDs with the back up of all computer files, computer software CDs, warrantees on electronics and appliances, photo albums, and current bank statements and investment statements. It is best to transport this with you instead of on the moving day.

The New Year is here. A time to make a new and better person out of you. A time to make new commitments for growth. In doing so, I suggest that you make an effort in making resolutions to help others as well. Doing good to others equates others to do good things for you too. Reaching out and contributing to your community should also be a part of your plans every year.

Why is there a need to reach out? Well for one, contributing to important causes provides hope and helps those who need the most assistance. In giving and doing goodness, we can experience a deeper sense of joy that money can’t buy. It is a fulfillment that nourishes our souls. It is happiness that is unmeasurable! Truly, a rewarding feeling.

Car Donate Charity

But you don’t have to be rich to give to less fortunate. Arthur Brooks was quoted saying that “The most charitable people in America today are the working poor.” Also the middle-income sectors are more of a giver compared to people in other countries. But compared to the working poor, they give less.

Now in giving, it is not always monetary donation that is important. There are other ways to contribute to charity. You can donate used fine clothing, old appliances, collectibles and so on. The greater the contribution, the better. More people can benefit from it.

You can make a great contribution by donating used cars, trucks or even motorcycles. When you give donations for charity like used cars, not only will you be helping someone in need but you will also receive tax deductions for your donations. Now if you want to receive a larger tax deduction for contributing a bigger donation, remember to choose a charity that will give your car to a donee rather than a charity selling your car to convert it to cash. That is because, say, if you decide to donate a car with a fair market value of ,300, and the charity sells your car for ,500. This ,500 is the deduction amount you can claim on your return instead of the ,300.

Giving sincerely is really a good way to help others. The bonus part is if you receive something in return for such generosity.
